The XRP Ledger has crossed 10 million payments settled through the x402 protocol — less than three months after clearing its first million — according to desk wraps citing t54 Labs and RippleX head of engineering J. Ayo Akinyele (Oct. 1, 2026; CoinDesk AI Desk / CoinGape / The Crypto Basic). AI agents buying inference and data still dominate volume, while financial-data, risk, credit, and other agent APIs are showing up more often.
XRPL AI Hub data put all-time x402-related activity near 10.9 million transactions, with roughly 6,610 XRP and 9,870 RLUSD settled across about 161 registered merchants. Daily settlement is reported near 500,000–600,000+ x402 payments (publisher figures vary). On XRPL, agents pay via HTTP 402 flows and settle in XRP or RLUSD, typically in seconds at fees near $0.0002.

SubscribePayments milestone ≠ price catalyst
Coinbase revived the unused HTTP 402 status code for the protocol; XRPL support shipped with Ripple’s XRPL AI Starter Kit in June. Ripple later joined the Linux Foundation–backed x402 Foundation as a Premier Member. Akinyele has said the ledger could reach 100 million x402 payments within a couple of years — a usage path, not an automatic spot catalyst. Live marks Friday morning (~9:13 a.m. MT via Robinhood) put XRP near $1.51, BTC near $85.6K, ETH near $2,705, SOL near $120. Not investment advice.
