Ripple USD (RLUSD) is about $248 million behind PayPal’s PYUSD after a late-September supply burst, according to Bitcoin.com News (Sept. 28, 2026) citing DefiLlama and Token Terminal. DefiLlama’s daily series tied an ~$82.1 million one-day RLUSD gain to Sept. 26, when the dollar token climbed from about $2.409 billion to a record $2.491 billion. As of the Monday desk print, PYUSD had given back supply to roughly $2.739 billion while RLUSD held near the record, shrinking the gap to about $248 million.
Key-takeaway figures in the same report also cite a DefiLlama snapshot putting RLUSD near $2.941 billion on Sept. 28 — up more than 86% since the start of 2026 — while PYUSD sits lower year-to-date. Treat the two DefiLlama prints as related but not identical snapshots; the competitive story is the closing gap, not a single tick.
XRPL took more of this week’s mint
Between Sept. 21 and Sept. 28, RLUSD on the XRP Ledger grew from about $1.036 billion to $1.099 billion (+$63 million), outpacing Ethereum’s +$49 million (to ~$1.392 billion). That lifts XRPL’s share of RLUSD supply to about 44% versus Ethereum’s ~56% — a weekly flip after months when Ethereum captured more of the growth.
A larger RLUSD float supports settlement and treasury use cases. It is not, by itself, evidence of equivalent XRP purchases. Live marks Monday morning (~9:22 a.m. MT via Robinhood) put XRP near $1.48, BTC near $82.9K. Not investment advice.
