Ripple has published an XRPL AI Starter Kit aimed at machine-to-machine payments under the x402 payment protocol, letting autonomous agents settle in native XRP or dollar-pegged RLUSD on the XRP Ledger, CoinTurk News reported on Friday, Sept. 25, 2026.

The pitch is practical microcommerce: AI agents that spend cents per inference thousands of times a day need predictable unit pricing. RLUSD’s cash-and-equivalents-backed dollar peg is framed for invoicing, subscriptions, and API settlement; XRP remains the ledger’s native rail for the simplest on-chain transfers.

Cross-currency without a shared wallet

XRPL documentation cited in the report distinguishes direct XRP payments as the fastest native path while labeling RLUSD for dollar-denominated flows — both settling on the same ledger. Built-in cross-currency exchange means an agent holding only XRP can pay a counterpart that prefers RLUSD (or the reverse) without agreeing to hold the same asset beforehand.

That split keeps RLUSD from “replacing” XRP on the ledger: one is an issued stable IOU, the other is the protocol asset. Growth in agent commerce would raise XRPL activity for both rails rather than pit them against each other.

AI Hub activity as context

The community-led XRPL AI Hub has indexed more than 7.25 million agent-payment transactions and roughly 181,000 average daily payments, per the report — organic engagement metrics for the emerging agent-payment stack, not a price forecast for XRP or RLUSD. Infrastructure story. Not investment advice.
